Why safaris need a specialist
The difference between a great safari and a disappointing one is almost never the country — it is the camp. Two lodges a mile apart in the same reserve can differ by a factor of two in game density, guiding quality, and price. Safari specialists know which camps deliver in which season, which conservancies have the migration in October, and how to string three camps together without a 5 AM charter you did not need to pay for.
Safaris also move through remote areas with light aircraft weight limits, visa rules, vaccination requirements, and border crossings. Every one of those details is handled for you — not discovered at the airstrip.
Where we send travelers
Tanzania and Kenya for the great migration and the classic savannah circuit. Botswana for water safaris and the highest-end camps in Africa. Namibia for dunes and self-drive-adjacent landscapes. South Africa for malaria-free family safaris and the easiest long-haul routing from Chicago. Uganda and Rwanda for gorilla trekking. We will tell you which one fits your month, your budget, and your stamina — the honest answer is usually not all of the above.
What planning with us looks like
We start with the experience you want — migration river crossings, gorilla trekking, photography, or just three quiet days of game drives — then build the camps, routing, and ground operators around it. You get a full itinerary with every flight, transfer, and camp documented, plus a packing and prep brief. While you travel, our East Africa partner network is on the ground with you.
How it works
1. Tell us about the trip
A short call or email — who's traveling, when, and what you want out of it. Fifteen minutes is usually enough.
2. Get a tailored plan
Your advisor comes back with a concrete itinerary and pricing — options, not a menu of everything.
3. We book and stand behind it
We handle reservations, changes, and the details en route. If something goes sideways while you travel, you call a person, not a hold queue.
Common questions
What does a safari cost?
Realistic all-in budgets from Chicago run $6,000–10,000 per person for a mid-range week (including international flights) and $12,000–20,000+ for luxury camps. The camp tier drives the price more than the country does — we will show you what each tier actually gets you.
When is the best time to go on safari?
It depends on where. East Africa's dry season (June–October) is the classic window; the migration river crossings peak around July–September in Tanzania's Serengeti. Southern Africa is best May–October. Gorilla trekking runs year-round in Uganda and Rwanda. Tell us your month and we will tell you which region makes sense.
Are safaris safe?
The camps and routes we use are in stable, well-traveled areas with professional ground operators. The real health considerations are malaria prophylaxis and a couple of vaccinations — we brief you on exactly what is needed for your specific itinerary.
Do you book safaris for travelers outside Chicago?
Yes. All planning is remote — phone, email, and video. Our travelers come from across the US.
